    Follow up comment: Okay so I thought it was leaked but I guess not, I haven’t been keeping up with the whole Windows 8 thing.

    Windows 7 was dropped in October 2009, and Microsoft themselves have specifically said they want windows 7 to last as long as possible. If Windows 8 was leaked this early, I would assume it would be a side release to Windows 7 for tablets and touch enabled devices.

    @2rocksalot2 you can switch between a touch screen UI or your traditional UI. It all depends on the device your using.

    just takes up more RAM no problem there….
    this is like windows phone turned into a tablet, kinda like how apple just turned the iphone into the ipad. its the same thing its just bigger…

    you swipe left to right to switch ( if using tablet) but other than that on normal pc you would do what you would normally do

    they say its also optimized for keyboard and mouse. doesnt matter anyway you dont have to use the new shell, its just an added extra for everyone

    @nullins You are beyond clueless. It’s not even close to Windows 7 dumbass. Microsoft has ripped the Windows 7 Kernel down to it’s very basic form, and made it leaner, lighter, faster, more efficient, and less resource intensive. They’ve also drastically reduced the size of the kernel. They did the same thing with Windows 7, and that’s why it’s one of the most stable OS ever.

    Windows 8 is not Windows 7. You’d be a fool to think that. This is also not a app manager. It’s a UI that is integrated.

    I didn’t NEED to scroll over and select a tile before I could look at my freakin’ weather apps! In Windows Vista there was a freakin’ SIDEBAR where you could put your apps and they were ALWAYS visible!

    Unless I’m missing something, I believe they are putting this on desktops, correct? This seems more like a touch centric ui. They could be shooting themselves in the foot. Many controls seem only assessable with touch. This also seems less productive than windows 7

    It makes sense. You can use new desktop or old version or even both at the same time. It’s truley cross platform without losing anything. Just gaining something new as well.

    Also your acting like you won’t be able to play games or stuff like that when you will, you’ll have mouse and keyboard support you’ll just have touchscreen support too on compatible computers. so if anything games will be better because they might have some touchscreen support and probably be smoother.
